Elvedes Cable Systems B.V. has been an importer and manufacturer of mechanical control cables for various sectors since 1965. The founder, Lourens van der Spruijt, started the company, which focused primarily on moped parts, in 1965.
The parts were offered directly to the retail trade. After a
number of years the demand for moped cables increased and this
product began to play a more significant role in the company. The
bicycle industry also grew, and this prompted an increasing demand
for cables for both the replacement and first use markets. The name
Elvedes was chosen as the brand name for the packaged cables. From
1976, the company became a complete cable specialist. It was
decided to bring the packaged cables to the market through the
wholesale sector. Besides the moped and bicycle industry, there was
significant demand for mechanical cables from other industries. In
2002, the two sons of Lourens van der Spruijt, Carl and Peter
acquired the company. In the last 45 years, Elvedes Cable Systems
has developed into a wonderful family business with an excellent
market niche.
